Model Club mania

Kiwanis clubs worldwide have caught Model Club fever! Our team of energetic volunteer leaders and committed club members has been working hard to spread the word about The Eliminate Project, the effects of maternal and neonatal tetanus and what Kiwanians can do to help. Advocacy is clearly paying off. In the month of November, at least 13 clubs worldwide have pledged to be a Model or 100K Club. In just four weeks, Kiwanis clubs have pledged more than US$500,000 to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus—that is more than 277,000 mothers and their future babies who will be saved or protected!

If you have ideas for potential Model or 100K Clubs in your area, but would like some support in your recruitment efforts, The Eliminate Project campaign office is here to help. Some helpful tips:

  • If you know individual members in a potential Model Club who are supportive of The Eliminate Project, ask them to help prepare and present to the club.
  • By talking to a club’s board or leadership before you speak to the full club membership, you can often assess what objections or ideas that club may have with their involvement in The Eliminate Project.
  • Some clubs believe that they cannot make these pledges to The Eliminate Project due to by-laws prohibiting a multi-year commitment. A two-thirds vote of present club members can overcome this restriction, so make sure to secure commitment from the Kiwanis members first.
