The 29 members of the Pinecrest School K-Kids Club in Annandale, VA have been very excited and motivated to raise money for The Eliminate Project after learning about the cause. They enthusiastically voted to sell lemonade at the school’s Fun Fair on October 22 and to go Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF to raise additional money for the Eliminate Project.
The group’s efforts at the lemonade stand raised $227.01. “It felt good that we were really making a difference. I’m glad we did it,” said Brooke C., the club’s president. “I never would have thought that we could save 126 people from pain and suffering in just a couple of hours,” another student stated. One second grader summed up the group’s sentiments, “I felt good selling lemonade because I could help more mothers and babies from tetanus.” All agreed selling lemonade was also a fun thing to do and they all willingly gave up some of their own time at the Fun Fair to sell the lemonade.
The Pinecrest School K-Kids Club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Tysons Corner/McLean, Virginia, in the Capital District and has members in grades –second through sixth. The club was chartered during the 2010-11 school year.
