Kiwanis float wins Tournament Volunteers’ Trophy

Key Clubbers help decorate floats before the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade

Kiwanis International’s float “A Child’s Magic Carpet Ride” won the Tournament Volunteers’ Trophy at the 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade. The parade is held annually in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day.

“We are so excited and humbled to win this prestigious award,” said Kiwanis’ Rose Float Committee Chairman Dave Wallach. “Our members worked incredibly hard to create a very beautiful float.”

An estimated 7,000 Kiwanis-family members of all ages—from K-Kids to Kiwanian—worked in shifts to build 12 flower-covered floats, including Kiwanis International, Honda, Trader Joe’s, Western Asset, Donate Life, Rotary International, City of Alhambra, City of Hope, RFD-TV and Department of Defense. Kiwanis offers more volunteers for this event than any other organization. Kiwanis clubs also feed the volunteers lunch and dinner.
