Key Club sparks big decisions for alum

Key Club alumnus, Monika Gyalay, shares her Key Club experience.

I will always remember my Key Club in the tiny town of Moorpark, California. I was one of the founding officers of the Moorpark High School Key Club: I served as club treasurer, and in this position I gained valuable lifelong skills.

Upon graduation I realized that these skills would later become useful in my business career, as well as on a daily basis. Through Key Club I was able to help my community and those in need—which sparked my interest in service. The service I was a part of in Key Club built lifelong friendships and introduced me to important people in the community, such as mayors.

The love for service that Key Club helped sparked later led to big career decisions. I am excited to attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis so that I can further my education while helping my country and those in need.

Without the influence of service I gained in high school, who knows what career I would have chosen. Regardless, I am happy that I found what motivates me: serving others.

Key Club alumni, have you shared your story with us yet? Tell us your favorite memory, or about the kind of impact Key Club had on you. Big or small, we want them all!
