Back in the day, it was easy when the expectation for candidates was to wear a dark business suit. Today, however, there are no set rules. With the varying dress codes at many businesses, a suit may be too formal.
The best way to find out what to wear: simply ask the person who has been arranging the interview with you. To demonstrate your professionalism with a more formal organization, you may want to ask, “Would it be appropriate to wear a suit, or do you recommend other attire?” If it is a more relaxed organization, ask “What is the appropriate attire for an interview with your company?”
It is always best to err on the side of professionalism. No matter what the attire, always be well groomed and neatly dressed.
